Vocal Problem-Solving

Vocal Problem Solving and Rehab for Singers and Speakers

Let the voice flow freely once again

Over the years I have been able to help many students with

  • Vocal fold post-op recovery including Lax vox
  • Thyroidectomy recovery
  • Early stage nodules
  • Poor physical health
  • Wobble/Over wide vibrato
  • Partial paralysis and spasm of the vocal folds
  • Vocal rehabilitation after chemo
  • Muscle tension dysphonia
  • Anxiety induced vocal inhibition

Through the guided application of specific singing exercises and breathing techniques I have been able to support students into being able to sing well again and to speak much more clearly.

Vocal fold spasm often does not occur when students are singing, as with stutter. We use this as the basis for therapeutic work with an immediate focus on breathing well. We then move on to relieve tensions in the tongue root, jaw and neck muscles, often working in tandem with experienced physios/fascia manipulators.

I will teach you some excellent self soothing techniques which also serve to allow the body to recover from shock and stress.

For more general singing problems, often a change in technique is all that is required.  I will always refer students to specific ENT surgeons for expert advice as well as to particular practitioners who work on laryngeal manipulation and fascial release, if need be.

Please contact me by email if you would like to discuss any problems you may be suffering and we can create a recovery plan specifically for you.

I am a member of the British Voice Association and would recommend anyone with vocal difficulties to refer to their website https://britishvoiceassociation.org.uk/ for lots of excellent information about voice care.
