I’ve just attended a Fascia and Pain Science seminar with Tom Myers of Anatomy Trains and Eric Owens of Delos in Chicago. Why is that anything to do with singing? Well, when we sing remember it’s the body that is making the noise. We need to be able to understand just how we can keep our bodies healthy but also what’s really happening physically when we suffer pain. Many many songs are about emotional pain so I like to find out about the physicality and translate that into what is going on emotionally. Then we can sing our songs with real self empathy and understanding. It’s also a reminder to keep moving. Whatever happens – keep the body moving around and making different shapes. Just like sound making really!
