Two workshops were held at the Studios just before Christmas. The theme was how to handle performance anxiety. Students were asked to prepare two songs. They sang their first songs in turn and we followed them up with a discussion about nerves, how it felt and how the group reacted to the performances. Then they could either sing the same song again or a different one. The transformation was amazing. The same song sounded like a different one. I think these kind of workshops are so useful. It’s not often we can admit to nerves in a business or performance setting. Here we could discuss discreet techniques as well as the age-old problem of worrying about the sound as opposed to focussing on the message.
Good times and we’ll repeat the exercise in a couple of months. The job now is to find a pub locally we can go on to where we don’t have to shout…got to protect those voices!
Apologies for not updating the blog more often.
