I recently completed the first ever UK Interpersonal Mindfulness Programme (IMP) here in London at London Meditation’s Camden eyrie.
I can’t recommend it enough – it is a fantastic way to start 2016 for those of us who have already followed Mindfulness programmes before.
Teaching improvisation skills I think of them as Mindfulness in action. Most of us come across improvisation in our daily lives when we are forced to “think on our feet”. In this case we rely on our good sense, a little bit of hope and a somewhat fatalistic attitude to carry us through an event. So it’s nearly always a crisis situation when we don’t have time to think too much or have any other options other than plunging right ahead. The beauty of IMP is that it gives participants the chance to pause a little, relax a little, open and then trust what emerges, listen to it and speak out. The process is taken one step at a time so that, by the end, these simple steps become one movement. I learned the technique some time ago but one can never do too much!
Here’s to a Mindful 2016!
